Do you like the idea of doing a full moon tea ritual this is where you spend a few precious moments preparing and drink your tea, you can do it alone or share it with friends and family. It is your choice but the experience will have better results if you do it by yourself.
Some of you may feel emotional and deep feelings may rise to the surface during this ritual and you’ll be more at ease to let them out if you’re alone. The way you do it doesn’t really matter as long as you do it mindfully with intention, be conscious of how you feel and try to stay in the moment when following the ritual, feel free to customise it slightly if you like.
I love this tea ritual because the process of preparing it is a magical act in itself, tea brewing involves the union of the five alchemical elements. That’s why tea rituals are a particularly powerful kind of magic. You don’t even need a magical circle for it to work although you can still cast one to help you if you want too maybe some of you will also set up your altar.
Earth: The herbs in your tea
Air: The steam and scent of your tea
Fire: The warmth needed for tea brewing
Water: The medium of you tea, its liquid state.
Recipe: for herbal tea for self love and self acceptance.
A small tea pot makes approximately 2 cups
1 tea spoon of rose petals
1 tea spoon of jasmine
1 tea spoon of thyme
1 tea spoon of lavender
A pinch of sea salt (or table salt)
Honey for flavour
You will need your favourite tea set a mortar and pestle and a kettle.
First, gather the herbs. (You can substitute it for normal tea leaves if you wish if you don’t have the recommended herbs.)
Using a mortar, grind every herb separately. While you’re grinding them, focus on your goal.
Charge each herb one by one by passing your hands through them. Imagine that a white light goes from your hands to the herbs. When you feel the herbs tingling with energy, put them into your teapot.
Boil the water in your kettle. While you’re waiting prepare yourself and your sacred space. Ground yourself, burn some incense and light a candle.
When it’s ready, pour the hot water on the herbs. Focus on what you’re doing then find a place where you can see the moon. Sit near of your window, or if the weather allows it, go outside.
Let it cool down and think about how you see yourself remember all the times when you’ve been hard on yourself. Think of the moments when you’ve felt that you were not good enough or not worth of the other people’s love or admiration.
Say to yourself – I am a good person. I am worthy of all the good things that are in my life. I am enough. I love who I am.
Drink your tea as you drink it imagine that you’re surrounded in a pink light a loving, healing, protective energy. Breathe it in, and imagine that it’s filling your soul with love and compassion.
When there is only a small sip of tea left, stop drinking. Pour the last drop of tea into the ground as an offering. Thank the Full Moon and the Universe for their help. Above all, thank yourself, self-love is not an easy thing.
Leave the herbs in the garden if you feel like it write what you’ve felt in your journal. The most important thing to remember to always be kind towards you, self love takes practice to become good at it.
